Obituary for Anthony Reginald Hemsley

“And Jesus answered him Saying, It is written….
man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God”
St. Luke 4:4

Anthony Reginald Hemsley was born November 29, 1960 in Washington, D.C. He was the 6th child of Robert O. Hemsley and Julia E. Hemsley. Anthony was educated in Washington, D.C. and received his High School Diploma from Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington, D.C.

During his childhood, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Takoma Park Baptist Church. After joining Takoma Park Baptist Church, he drifted in and out of attendance and he still remains a long time member.

Anthony never married and loved the neighborhood and neighbors he grew up in. He was the neighborhood “handyman” where he served to help many neighbors with small jobs. He had a disability that prevented him from working and the neighbors as he often stated, made him feel he had a purpose. He was a walker and a talker, a gentle giant who loved his family and friends. He had a heart of gold, giving strangers food and money many times. He loved yard work and helping around the “Home Place” in Jeffersonton, Virginia.

On Sunday November 12, 2017, Anthony transitioned to his heavenly home. He will be greatly missed by his family. Left to cherish Anthony’s life is his mother and father, Robert and Julia Hemsley: his sisters, Karen J. Hemsley, Barbara J. Robinson, ABD, Sharon D. Green; his brothers Oliver R. Hemsley; Robert Jerome Hemsley; his siter in-law Idella Hemsley; his brother-in-laws Dr. Benjamin V. Robinson and Steve Green; 4 nieces, Talya Green, Janetta Hemsley, Stephanie Hemsley, and Jasmin Hemsley; 4 nephews, Timothy Green, Titus Green, Christopher Hemsley, and Stephon Green; several great nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
