Obituary for Fielding W. Lawson, Jr. "Fennybug"

Fielding W. Lawson, Jr., son of the late Fielding Armstead Lawson, Sr. and Julia Leonia Davis Lawson, departed this life on Friday, March 30, 2018 at his home in Lignum, VA.
Fielding, endearingly known as “Fennybug” or “Bug” to most, was born October 14, 1943 in Culpeper County. He accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lignum, VA where he remained a member until his passing. In his early years, he attended church regularly and was active in many of the church’s organizations. Fennybug was educated in the Culpeper County School system, and graduated from George Washington Carver High School where he also served as a school bus driver, while attending there. He had a successful career in masonry, and retired as a brick mason contractor after more than 40 years. Fennybug always enjoyed working outdoors and, after retirement, you would often find him somewhere tinkering with cars, doing home repairs or gardening. His love for helping people, coupled with his craftsmanship, quickly earned him the title of “community handyman”.
This humble patriarch of our family will be most remembered and missed for his kind-hearted spirit, charming personality, and infectious sense of humor. He loved getting together with family and friends, and adored spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. His fun-loving spirit was felt by all who came in contact with him.
Fennybug was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Alfonzo Lawson; his sister, Shirley Garnett and his grandson, Gary Robinson, II.
He will be lovingly remembered by his five daughters from his union with the late Sylvia Ann Lawson: Jacqueline Lawson of Culpeper, VA; Janice (Jesse) McNeal of Spotsylvania, VA; Justine Lawson of Culpeper, VA; Jojuana (Jesse) Wilkins of Lignum, VA; Jolanda Frye of Culpeper, VA; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Barber Lawson and one sister, Carolyn Lightfoot, both of Lignum, VA; his devoted friend, Margaret Ward of Madison, VA; honorary family member, Shannon Minor of Culpeper, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends.
